Truck driver charged with dangerous driving over crash that caused death of Bede Polding teacher
A man has been charged following an investigation into the fatal crash on Tuesday November 2 which resulted in the death of much-loved Bede Polding teacher, 28-year-old Gemma Thompson.
About 7.30am on the Tuesday, emergency services were called to The Northern Road, near Spinks Road, Llandilo, following reports a truck and car had collided.
Miss Thompson who was driving her car, died at the scene.
The driver of the truck – a 20-year-old man – received minor injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.
Officers from Nepean Police Area Command set-up a crime scene and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, the truck driver was arrested at Mt Druitt Police Station yesterday – Monday.
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous - and negligent driving occasioning death.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court next Wednesday, November 24.
