North Richmond Woman trapped by flooding second patient airlifted to hospital from west of the river
A seriously ill 50-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital by CareFlight on Monday evening when floodwaters in North Richmond prevented her from going to hospital by road.
The woman had a serious infection that required urgent medical care.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 6:10pm and landed 25 minutes later within the grounds of a sporting facility.
This mission was CareFlight’s second to North Richmond today where flooding from the Nepean River is preventing NSW Ambulance paramedics from transporting patients to hospital.
After arriving, CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the woman.
They conducted an ultrasound on the patient and prepared her for flight transfer to hospital.
The woman was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition under ongoing treatment from CareFlight’s clinical team.
