Highway Patrol car crash at north Richmond, driver trapped
A police driver was trapped in his Highway Patrol vehicle last night after it left the road and hit a fence while on an emergency call at North Richmond.
The incident happened at 9.20pm last night – Wednesday – when the Highway Patrol car was responding to an emergency – with its lights and sirens on, Police told us this morning.
The car left the road on a sweeping right hand bend, colliding with a culvert on the shoulder of the road before hitting a boundary fence of a property, coming to rest against a fence post on Terrace Rd, North Richmond.
Emergency Services were called, with the Police driver trapped in his car until released by SES rescue.
Both officers in the vehicle were taken to Nepean Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both officers remain in hospital this morning for observation.
