Hawkesbury school age child with Covid was at McGraths Hill BMX track while event was on
The BMX Track at Colbee Park - home to Hawkesbury Hornets BMX Club (HHBC) - is closed and a deep clean will soon be carried out after a school-age person with Covid was at the track last week.
Around 20 people were at the track at Colbee Park last Wednesday, at an event organised by a coach who is not linked to the HHBC, and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the youngster was also at the track, according to the Club's President.
The trainer who organised the event disputes the number and says it was the allowable 10 who at all times adhered to Covid rules around social distancing.
The person with Covid – who HHBC President Trent Lupton has been told is school age – is from the Hawkesbury, Mr Lupton said he was led to believe by NSW Health.
The youngster was not a member of the group holding the event.
The BMX track at Colbee Park is a public track so anyone can use it.
But on Wednesday, last week, July 7, a BMX coach from out of the area held an event at the track. Mr Lupton told the Post on Sunday evening his understanding is people were from areas including Castle Hill and as far away as Homebush.
“This individual took it upon herself to organise what I’m told was a Covid-safe event, but the child with Covid was there on Wednesday, I’m told by NSW Health,” Mr Lupton said. "There was some overlap with the event."
“The child is not a member of the club,” he added, and was also not a member of the group holding the event.
If you or anyone you know were at the Track on Wednesday 7 July you are now considered a casual contact and must get tested and self isolate immediately.
