Firearms charge for man from Blacktown LGA after COVID breach at Londonderry

A man has been charged with possession of an unauthorised Glock pistol while also breaching health orders in the Hawkesbury yesterday afternoon – Saturday – after travelling from the Blacktown local government area.

 

Blacktown LGA is one of the COVID hotspot areas and is locked down. That LGA currently has 173 confirmed COVID cases, 58 of them from an unknown source.

 

At 4.20pm officers attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team were patrolling Londonderry as part of Operation Farmgate when they saw two men riding quad bikes.

 

After speaking with them, the officers found they both lived in the Blacktown LGA and were in breach of the current Public Health Orders.

 

Police searched a white Toyota Hilux and found a black Glock-17 gel blaster air pistol allegedly inside a bag on the front seat.

 

A Kellyville Ridge man, aged 25, was arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm-pistol, and not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 – COVID-19.

 

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today – Sunday.

 

The second man, a 22-year-old from South Granville, was issued with a $1000 PIN.
