* KFC Richmond is closed due to a worker being a close contact of a COVID case. More on this one and when it will be reopened when we hear back from KFC.


* 17 new cases in the Hawkesbury today - 13 of which are from an unknown source and not linked


* There are 152 active COVID cases in the Hawkesbury LGA, was 148 the day before - so up 4


* There have been 140 new COVID cases in the Hawkesbury (population 68,000) over the last 10 days: 11, 9, 17, 21, 14, 13, 16, 13, 9, 17

* Of the 1351 NSW cases (was 1259 yesterday) reported to 8pm, Wednesday, September 15 - 59 (was 82 yesterday) are from Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, which includes the Hawkesbury


* There are 810 active cases (was 837 yesterday) in the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD


* There have been 212 COVID-related deaths in NSW since this Delta outbreak started on 16 June. 20 of the 212 have died at home.


* There were 129,266 COVID tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 137,498.


* There have been 42,511 NSW cases reported since June 16, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.


* Health Minister Brad Hazzard today - There are now more than 15,000 people with COVID being cared for in the NSW health system: "The majority of those, over 90%, are being cared for in the community, at home generally and some are in the NSW Health special accommodation."


* Minister Hazzard - in metro Sydney: 91% of NSW Health staff have been fully vaccinated. Across NSW, 88% of the Health workforce have had the 1st dose, 80% double, and 84% NSW Health regional have had the first dose.

COVID deaths and hospital numbers – daily record of 13 deaths in the last 24 hours


A man in his 90s from western Sydney died at Westmead Hospital. He acquired his infection at the Hardi Guildford Aged Care Facility. This is the second death linked to the outbreak at this facility.


A man in his 60s from western Sydney died at Northern Beaches Hospital.


A man in his 60s from south-western Sydney died at Northern Beaches Hospital.


A woman in her 80s from western Sydney died at Westmead Hospital.


A woman in her 80s from south-western Sydney died at Concord Hospital.


A woman in her 60s from south-eastern Sydney died at Prince of Wales Hospital.


A man in his 40s from western Sydney died at Nepean Hospital.


A woman in her 80s from western Sydney died at Westmead Hospital.


A woman in her 70s from western Sydney died at Nepean Hospital.


A man in his 70s from south-western Sydney died at Campbelltown Hospital.


A woman in her 60s from south-western Sydney died at home.


A man in his 50s from western Sydney died at Westmead Hospital.


As reported yesterday, a woman in her 40s died of COVID in her home at Kimberley Street, Rooty Hill. This case has been reported to the coroner.


There are 1231 people with COVID (was 1241 yesterday) in hospital, with 231 (234 yesterday) people in ICU, and 108 (108 yesterday) of whom require ventilation.
