Coles North Richmond security guard allegedly assaulted – Kurmond man charged, woman issued fine

Aug 9, 2021

A 28-year-old Kurmond man who refused to sign in at Coles North Richmond yesterday – Sunday – midday has been charged with assault after an altercation with a security guard tasked with reminding people to sign in, and he was also issued with an infringement notice for failing to comply with the Public Health Order.

There is a $1000 fine for failing to sign in when visiting a store, and $500 for not wearing a mask.

A 26-year-old North Richmond woman who was with the man has been handed an infringement notice too.

One of them was not wearing a mask and both refused to sign into the store.

Hawkesbury Police officers quickly tracked down the couple to a North Richmond address.

The man will be appearing in Windsor Local Court at a later date on the assault charge.

The security guard was not seriously hurt in the ordeal, say Police.
