CareFlight medics treat Wisemans Ferry man who fell from roof
The CareFlight helicopter and medical crew were on he scene quickly yesterday afternoon to help rescue and treat a 60-year-old man working on the roof of his Wisemans Ferry home who fell six metres into shrubbery on a steep slope.
The man suffered chest and back injuries.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 5.10pm from the Westmead hangar and landed 30 minutes later in a field by the scene of the incident. The clinical team were the first emergency services personnel to arrive.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedics worked together to perform a clinical assessment on the man, including an ultrasound, while also clearing back the shrubbery and extricating him from the slope.
NSW Ambulance paramedics later arrived on scene to provide further assistance.
The clinical team continued providing care as the man was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
