Public briefing on poisonous PFAS chemicals spread from RAAF base 

Hawkesbury residents will be able to attend a long-awaited briefing next week about – dangerous PFAS chemicals that have spread from the Richmond RAAF based and have been linked to water and soil contamination as well as a group of cancers and other human health problems.

The Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman undertook to resume Defence briefings in recent months and will appear along with Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite and departmental officials on Tuesday August 22 at the Richmond Club where there will be an afternoon and evening session.

Bells Line of Road Aims to Shine as Premier Tourist Destination

The Bells Line of Road (BLOR) Business Council has embarked on an ambitious journey to elevate the renowned Bells Line of Road into a vibrant tourist hotspot with its pioneering inaugural tourism campaign, titled “Greater Bells Line of Road.”

Alongside, the BLOR Business Council’s online directory showcasing 125 local offerings, GreaterBellsLineofRoad.com.au, takes centre stage, positioning the region as a self-sustained destination catering to diverse interests – whether it’s a quick day trip from Sydney, a picturesque destination wedding, a rejuvenating weekend getaway, or a journey through the Blue Mountains.

The campaign aims to position Bells Line prominently on the tourist map competing with destinations like Byron Bay, the Southern Highlands and the Yarra Valley.

Relief and joy as speed limits finally reduced in Pitt Town to improve safety 

After persistent efforts and years of lobbying, the speed limits in Pitt Town are set to undergo a reduction to 50km/h. 

The move comes in response to safety concerns as the town grapples with heavy traffic, with 800 to 1000 trucks passing through the historic town daily. The  decision has been met with relief by local residents and the Pitt Town Progress Association. 

The  Association’s  President Chris Bell  welcomed the announcement after years of lobbying for the change.

Woman charged with intent to murder after crashing into house 

A woman has been charged with intent to murder after allegedly hitting a man before crashing into a house in Schofields.

At about 3pm on Tuesday,  emergency services were called to Sciberras Avenue, Schofields, following reports a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a house.

Officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command attended and found a 38-year-old man with serious injuries; it’s alleged he was struck by the vehicle before it crashed into a house.
