Telstra’s Upgrades Payphones, Back up Powers Ahead of Bushfire Season 

Telstra has announced it will upgrade local services and provide new equipment to help disaster-affected communities, in preparation for bushfire season.

Payphones will be upgraded, power backup technology provided, in addition to mobile coverage and performance improvements across the Hawkesbury to help communities affected by disaster reconnect and recover as quickly as possible. The initiatives in the Hawkesbury region are part of a national effort to support disaster-hit communities.

It was a night of triumph and celebration for Hillbilly Cider, as they clinched two prestigious awards at the 2023 annual Australian Cider Awards held in Melbourne.  The family-owned business, founded in 2012 by Shane and Tessa McLaughlin, is no stranger to recognition, having made its mark by crafting all-natural ciders without added sugar or artificial flavours.

The 2023 Australian Cider Awards, featuring 219 local and international ciders, was a highly competitive event. The spotlight fell on Hillbilly Cider as their flagship crushed apple cider secured the prestigious title of “Best New World Cider.”

Due to changing demographics across the country the Australian Electoral Commission needs to redraw electoral boundaries. For NSW this will mean the loss of one seat from 47 to 46 and Sydney is the main focus.

Fireworks still going ahead in the Blue Mountains this weekend

The planned fireworks display at Chapel Hill Retreat at Berambing in the Blue Mountains is still going ahead with Hawkesbury Council telling landowners to move their horses if they are concerned about their welfare.

Chapel Hill Retreat is planning two fireworks events on Friday 3rd November 2023 and Friday 24th November 2023 at their venue surrounded by bush in the Blue Mountains. 

The decision has ignited a fiery debate as local residents and horse owners express grave concerns over the fire risk and also the safety of their horses.
